Established in 2008, the Wireless Power Consortium’s mission is to create and promote wide market adoption of Qi, the international wireless power standard for interoperability across rechargeable electronic devices.
A STANDARD FOR WIRELESS POWER
The Wireless Power Consortium has developed Qi, an international standard for compatible wireless charging stations. Compatible products such as phones and other mobile electronics are recognized by a logo. The logo signifies compatibility with all charging stations that carry the logo.
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
The Wireless Power Consortium is a cooperation of Asian, European and American companies. We believe that mobile products need global compatibility. The wireless power consortium is a cooperation of companies in different industries.
AN OPEN CONSORTIUM
Membership of the wireless power consortium is open for every company.
THE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The wireless power standard has the same charging time as the current technology of wired chargers. It meets the major regulatory international safety radiation and emissions standards. The Consortium will first establish an international standard for devices 5 watts and below, with an international standard for high power devices and equipment to follow.
