Presentation overview

This presentation provides an overview of the publicly available MIPI I3C Basic serial interface, which significantly simplifies the integration of mechanical, biometric, environmental and other types of sensors in IoT devices. The presentation explains how I3C provides a high-performance, low-power solution to connect next-generation sensor components while also maintaining backward compatibility with the I2C interface. Use case examples are included to demonstrate I3C’s applicability to a wide array of IoT applications.


Tim McKee, Chair of the MIPI I3C Working Group
Tim is a hardware engineer with over 10 years of experience working in the semiconductor industry. He is currently a System Architect at Intel Corporation where he works to create and enable standards for industry advancement. In 2020 Tim was elected as chair of the MIPI I3C Working group (formally called the MIPI Sensors Working Group) where he leads a cross industry group of MIPI members who develop and maintain the MIPI I3C and I3C Basic interface specifications.
