The MIPI A-PHY Compliance Program is the automotive industry’s first standardized SerDes compliance program, providing automotive OEMs with assurance that implementations of MIPI A‑PHY meet the industry's stringent requirements for interoperability, functional safety and EMI robustness, while offering MIPI members the opportunity to differentiate their products by validating that their MIPI A-PHY® devices have been tested and deemed compliant.
About the Program and Certification Process
Comprehensive program information is available to members in the Policy and Procedures for the MIPI A-PHY Compliance Program v1.0, approved in March 2026. The policy outlines all program components, including guidelines, workflows and processes, compliance types and retests.
Compliance testing focuses on PMD electrical compliance, based on the current A-PHY Reference Compliance Test Suite. Future phases will extend coverage to the A-PHY protocol adaptation layers (PALs), ensuring robust interoperability for higher-layer protocols operating over A-PHY links.
The program process is summarized in the Figure below. Upon program completion, companies may opt to have their products added to a public registry of certified products.
Authorized Test Lab
BitifEye Digital Test Solutions GmbH has been approved as the first authorized test lab (ATL) for the program. The company is also coordinating testing and leading the development of the compliance program on behalf of MIPI Alliance.
How to Participate
Only MIPI members may participate in the A-PHY Compliance Program certification process. Companies with DUTs may get started by contacting the A-PHY Compliance Administrator for participation details.
