A new video featuring MIPI Alliance Chair Hezi Saar and Executive Director Peter Lefkin gives a brief overview of the activities and momentum taking place across MIPI and highlights the many opportunities available for organizations to help shape the future of mobile and other connected ecosystems.
Over the course of the three-minute video, Hezi and Peter look back on the major milestones of 2025 and what's to come in 2026 and beyond.
Last year, a refreshed mission statement and listening campaign (member polls) laid the groundwork for a renewed sense of purpose and energy that are already informing priorities and initiatives. In addition, MIPI adopted a record 19 new specifications, underscoring both the pace of innovation and strong engagement across technical working groups. These specifications support a wide range of applications spanning mobile, automotive, IoT, audio and other areas where low latency, high bandwidth and power efficiency are essential.
For 2026, a robust pipeline of specifications is already in the works, reflecting both emerging technologies and the continued evolution of existing specifications, including display, camera, MIPI's physical layer specifications, camera security and audio.
While technical working groups remain the heart of specification development, there are now more ways than ever for members to get involved. At the Montreal member meeting in mid-March, the upcoming formation of a Physical AI Birds of a Feather (BoF) group with an initial focus on humanoids, as well as a Die-to-Die BoF, were announced. Both of these groups will welcome participation from all levels of MIPI membership and nonmember organizations, offering opportunities to explore emerging markets and technical areas that will help shape future MIPI initiatives.
Beyond technical development, MIPI is also expanding opportunities to engage through A-PHY Compliance Program events, as well as upcoming demo days and interoperability testing—activities that help translate specifications into real-world solutions and thriving ecosystems.
It’s never been a better time to be a MIPI member. We encourage you to watch the video and explore the many ways you and your colleagues can plug into MIPI.
