MIPI kicked off its first member meeting of the year in Montreal, Canada, 16-20 March, with 118 contributors from 34 member companies participating in a full week of intensive collaboration among 16 MIPI groups and the Board of Directors.

Building on the momentum of last year's updated strategic priorities, record specification adoptions and energized MIPI ecosystems, participants at Member Meeting #71 continued to focus on advancing technical goals and key strategic initiatives, including exploring new opportunities in emerging technologies. Watch the video recorded during the Montreal meeting to learn more about the latest MIPI milestones, what's ahead in 2026, and how members and nonmembers can get involved in upcoming activities.

A post-meeting report that includes highlights of each group’s meetings, updated development timelines and the latest MIPI Specification Roadmap will be distributed to all members later this month.

Technical Insights on Day One

MIPI working group leaders and members of the board convened on Monday for the Technical Steering Group (TSG) session, which began with a welcome to incoming TSG chair Ariel Lasry and thank you to outgoing chair James Goel, who served in the role for six years. The full day of technical discussions covered a broad array of topics, from new specification proposals and roadmap updates, to progress in priority areas such as physical AI, chip-to-chip, software strategy and the MPI PC OEM forum.

Next up was newly appointed TSG Chair Ariel Lasry, who spoke about his vision for the TSG and called on members to bring forward topics for consideration, particularly in areas that cross working group operations. MSG Chair Kevin Yee presented MIPI's updated mission statement and shared a look at evolving markets within the MIPI ecosystem, encouraging attendees to explore these topics further in the MSG's upcoming discussion forums. After sharing a preview of the DSI-2 and DCS v3.0 specification family, Dale Stolitzka, retiring Display Working Group chair, was recognized with the new title of MIPI Working Group Chair Emeritus. Closing out the presentations, Tom Kopf offered an update on the forthcoming launch of the A-PHY Compliance Program and next steps for member participation.

Evenings in Montreal

Once working group sessions wrapped on Tuesday, attendees gathered for a casual networking reception, providing a welcome break to catch up with colleagues and continue the conversations sparked throughout the day.

Wednesday's social event took members off site for an evening of drinks, dinner and a behind-the-scenes look at the history of one of hockey's most celebrated teams. Attendees were invited to tour the iconic Bell Centre, home of the Montreal Canadiens, the oldest continuously operating professional ice hockey team and winner of more Stanley Cups than any other franchise.
